The three major races in my home country which is Malaysia are the Malay, Chinese and Indians. Firstly, please do not condemn me on my simple thoughts on what are they like as I am still young and I do not have a deep understanding of them. My thoughts on them are just mere impressions they portray to me.
The Malays.
- The impression I have on them is that they are conservative in person. Don't get me wrong as there is nothing wrong being conservative. It's just that sometimes they are being too conservative (I'm not saying all of them but some of them). I envy the Malays (of course not bumiputera benefits they could have) because unlike the Chinese they seek a simple life rather than going berserk after financial wealth. A good value that could be learn from them is simplicity. Most of the Malays I encounter on my entire life gave me this impression of them having good moral values instilled in them. I don't understand why the Malays and Chinese hate each other. Maybe it's just another racism issue. I would see it as a mere misunderstanding.
The Chinese.
- The Chinese in Malaysia are always in search for financial wealth. Most of the Chinese in Malaysia will only have money on their mind. Let's face it for it is a fact. Searching for financial wealth is good but sometimes when we re-think about it again, it is not the most important thing in life. Another funny fact bout the Chinese in Malaysia is, they are kinda separated in to two kinds. The "guai lou" chinese and the "ah beng chinese". I myself am a hakka chinese. If you're wondering which one I belong to, I would say I am half of both. =) I don't like the fact that the "guai lou" chinese has stereotypes on the "ah beng" chinese. It's just not right too me.
The Indians.
- I don't know if you would noticed but the Indians here are like the middle man. Every Malay and Chinese has a close Indian friend but seldom you would see Malay and Chinese being close together. The Indians in Malaysia are cool. They are the most easy-going race among the three. I guess that's why the Malays and Chinese will always have a close Indian friend.
By writing this post, I mean no offensive thoughts to condemn any race in Malaysia. I am just merely spilling my thoughts and feelings towards this matter. I am against racism. Racism to me is bullshit. You can't hate the entire race just because one of them pisses you off. Its that individual itself whose being fucked-up not the color of that individual's skin. I really hope the 1Malaysia plan of the PM would bring good results in uniting Malaysia as one. (Yea right. Let's face it, I am not that naive to believe that racism here in Malaysia would be vanished! but I sure hope it will). Having wrote all this, I am not implying that I hate Malaysia in fact I am proud that I am born Malaysian.
P/S: I find it funny where some of the Malays like to call chinese "Cina Babi" as some of the Chinese would refer the Malays as "malai gu" which means the same. This is just dumb. My thoughts of what Malaysia should be is simple. Kalau Cina Babi, Melayu pun babi, India pun babi. Kalau Cina bagus, Melayu pun bagus, India pun Bagus, semua pun bagus. Equality would be the suitable word to use here. Malaysia is still a young country but I know "Malaysia memang Boleh!", tapi bukan sekarang. =(
